women Elders in regard to their well being:
The OOWB project met their objective as the program was controlled by
the input of the elders from conception, implementation and outcomes.
A peer education model for older women which can be replicated in a variety
of
community settings.
The OOWB project lead the way in creating activities for aboriginal elders
it has become a model for use in other communities who have endevered
to undertake at their own space. For example in Gippsland they now have
line dancing as an activity. Wagga Wagga Aboriginal Medical Service are
considering how they can get a similar program running. The Line Dancing
team still perform and practice for special occasions.
A group of recreation and fitness workers who are sensitive to the needs
of older women and a group of facilitators/peer educators trained to assist
in establishing further programs in their own communities;
The works hosp leaders, line dancing, aqua arthritis and tai chi were
all privileged to be involved with the group. They found their humor,
