Communication to visitors of the Protocols and that a formal response is required which acknowledges that the visitor is welcomed to the sacred land of the Yorta Yorta Ancestors on behalf of the Yorta Yorta nation the custodians of the land.

Organisations operating in Yorta Yorta lands will be encouraged to sign an agreement with the Goulbourn Valley Aboriginal Elders Group to abide by the formal protocol document and individuals authorised to perform welcome ceremonies.

Intellectual and cultural property rights for the Protocols Document will rest with the Goulbourn Valley Aboriginal Elders Group.

There is recognition of different levels of ceremony for welcome to country. A formal welcome to Yorta Yorta country at the highest level will contain the following elements:

participation of male and female in the welcome ceremony

a Protocol Document which will acknowledge the Land, Ancestors and Elders. The document will acknowledge that the welcome is performed on behalf of all Yorta Yorta people.
